Tejas Fighter Jet Crash Marks Third Loss

That accident drew significant international attention, given the global platform of the airshow and the symbolic importance of Tejas as India’s indigenous fighter jet.

Together, these incidents have led to increased public and media focus on the safety performance of the Tejas fleet, even as defence experts note that fighter aircraft operations inherently carry risks due to the demanding environments in which they operate.

As with all military aviation incidents, a formal Court of Inquiry has reportedly been initiated to determine the exact cause of the February 2026 event. Preliminary discussions in media reports have mentioned possible technical or system-related factors, including speculation about braking or landing systems.
