Op Sindoor Delegation to Meet Prime Minister Next Week, Set to Brief Him on Nationwide Outreach Efforts

A high-level delegation from Operation Sindoor (Op Sindoor) is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi next week to brief him on the initiative’s progress, outreach, and future plans. The meeting is expected to highlight the program’s work across India, particularly in empowering women, promoting health awareness, and strengthening community-based support networks.

Operation Sindoor, a civil society-led movement launched in early 2024, aims to address women’s health issues, tackle gender-based violence, and enhance rural outreach through collaborative efforts with local governments, NGOs, and health workers. The initiative has gained nationwide traction, particularly in states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Assam.

Delegation Members and Key Agenda

The delegation will include prominent activists, health experts, grassroots coordinators, and senior campaign strategists from Op Sindoor. Among the key members expected to attend are campaign chairperson Dr. Meenakshi Rathi, outreach head Sameer Arora, and rural coordinator Laxmi Devi from Jharkhand.

Their agenda during the meeting will include:

  • Presenting detailed reports on Op Sindoor’s outreach in Tier II and Tier III towns.

  • Sharing success stories of community transformation, especially in tribal and underserved regions.

  • Seeking further governmental support in scaling telemedicine and mobile health vans.

  • Discussing integration with existing schemes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Ayushman Bharat.

Ground-Level Impact

Since its inception, Op Sindoor has conducted over 1,200 awareness camps, trained more than 15,000 ASHA workers and community leaders, and distributed sanitary and wellness kits in remote districts. The initiative also runs a toll-free helpline and a mobile app to connect women with mental health and legal support services.

A recent pilot in Bundelkhand reportedly led to a 38% increase in maternal health check-ups, while a campaign in Assam saw 12 villages declare themselves “violence-free zones” under community-driven monitoring.

Government Collaboration in Focus

Officials familiar with the preparations say that the delegation hopes to receive the Prime Minister’s endorsement for a broader rollout of Op Sindoor as a public-private partnership. There is also discussion around aligning Op Sindoor’s digital platforms with Digital India infrastructure to improve last-mile delivery of health and welfare services.

Looking Ahead

Sources within the PMO have confirmed that the Prime Minister is keenly interested in citizen-led development initiatives, especially those aligned with women’s empowerment and grassroots innovation. If the meeting proves successful, it could open doors to additional funding, logistical backing, and formal recognition under central schemes.

The meeting is expected to take place mid-next week at the Prime Minister’s residence or South Block office. A press briefing may follow, according to the delegation’s spokesperson.

Operation Sindoor’s growing footprint reflects a changing India—one where local voices, especially those of women, are shaping policy from the ground up.
